THE CREW WAS ORIGINALLY ENROUTE TO KSYR AND HAD DECIDED TO DIVERT TO KBGR WHERE A SAFE LANDING WAS MADE SUCCESSFULLY. THE CREW PERFORMED THE FLAP RESET PROCEDURE WHICH WAS SUCCESSFUL, AND FUTURE FLIGHTS WERE MADE WITHOUT ANY RECURRING ISSUES.

AFTER TAKEOFF, WHEN THE FLAPS WERE RAISED FROM 15 TO 0, THEY FROZE AT 14 WITH "FLAP" AND "PUSHER' ANNUNCIATIONS. DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED AT KABQ UNEVENTFULLY, FLAPS LOCKED AT 15 DEGREES DUE TO ASYMMETRY FAULT. MAINTENCE ACCOMPLISHED INSPECTION OF THE FLAPS SYSTEM AND ACCOMPLISHED A FLAP RESET AND ACCOMPLISHED OPERATIONAL CHECK. THE SYSTEM WAS NORMAL WITH NO DISCREPANCIES.

NOTE: THE MOTOR WAS FOUND TO BE AN ORIGINAL INSTALLED WITH A DATE OF MFG OF 2021.

TECHNICIANS TROUBLESHOT THE SYSTEM AND FOUND THE SELECTOR SOLENOID A1213P (P/N 974.61.01.103) WAS INTERNALLY OPEN ACROSS PIN 9 AND 10 WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE.

DURING VISUAL INSPECTION IT WAS NOTED THAT THE STARTER-GENERATOR BRUSHES WERE WORN TO NEAR 1/4 LIFE REMAINING MARKS. UPON REVIEWING THE HISTORY ON THIS STARTER-GENERATOR IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE COMPONENT HAD ACCRUED 362.8 HOURS SINCE OVERHAUL. THIS STARTER-GENERATOR HAS A TBO OF 1200 HOURS AND A BRUSH INSPECTION EVERY 600 HOURS. NO OTHER ANOMALIES WERE NOTED. THIS IS THE FIFTH PREMATURE FAILURE OF THIS PART NUMBER STARTER GENERATOR OBSERVED BY THIS PART 135 CH IN THE PAST 8 MONTHS.

INVESTIGATION REVEALED A SLIGHT CONDUCTIVE PATH BETWEEN THE TWO BRUSHES WITH THE BRUSH BLOCK ASSY REMOVED BELIEVED TO BE CAUSED BY BRUSH BLOCK DUST. THE SLIP RING WAS ALSO FOUND TO BE VERY DIRTY. THE SLIP RING WAS CLEANED, A NEW BRUSH BLOCK ASSY INSTALLED AND THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO [S/N removed].

IAW AIRCRAFT MM IF THERE IS PITTING, GROOVES OR SCORING FOUND ON THE SLIP RING SURFACE THEN REPLACE THE GENERATOR. GENERATOR 2 REPLACED WITH NEW UNIT.

I PERFORMED THE GEAR NOT DOWN AND LOCKED CHECKLIST AND WAS PREPARING TO DO A FLYBY OF THE TOWER TO ALLOW THEM TO OBSERVE THE GEAR WHEN I LOCATED THE "ADVISE INDICATION" CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS POPPED. I RESET THE CIRCUIT BREAKER AND OBSERVED NORMAL GEAR INDICATIONS AND LANDED NORMALLY.

The expensive surprises on any used airplane are missing logbooks, corrosion under paint, outstanding ADs, an engine near overhaul, and the same squawk written up again and again. The card lists where the PC-12 gets written up; the AD timetable below lists what the FAA requires.

Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67D engines installed on Beech 1900D aircraft may experience cracking in compressor turbine components. After installation of improved engine components, owners must remove the engine RPM operating restriction placard and revert the Airplane Flight Manual to its original state.
