Airworthiness directives
3 in force · 0 superseded not shown
From Federal Register final rules since 1995. Whether an AD applies to a particular airplane depends on its serial number, engine and installed equipment; confirm against the FAA’s Dynamic Regulatory System.

Uncommanded activation of the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) autopilot mode has caused accidents and incidents in flight. This AD requires inhibiting the CAPS autopilot, installing information placards, revising the airplane flight manual and maintenance documentation, and modifying wiring on certain airplanes to remove CAPS power timer functionality.

A cabin fire incident occurred on a Cirrus SF50 airplane during ground operations, prompting investigation of the headset amplifier and microphone interface circuit card assemblies. This AD requires disconnecting and removing the headset amplifier and microphone interface circuit card assemblies for the 3.5 mm audio and microphone jacks.

What gets written up
46 reports · 2018–2026
The ten systems with the most service difficulty reports, by FAA system code (JASC). Fewer than 200 reports were filed on the Vision Jet in 2016–2025, so read these as long-run patterns.

RETARD BREAKER POINT LEAD WIRE ATTACHED TO DISTRIBUTOR HOUSING, HAS TERMINAL END BROKEN. WIRE IS TOO SHORT TO CRIMP NEW TERMINAL END ON. WIRE IS ATTACHED TO HOUSING WITH EPOXY LIKE COVERING AND NO ALLOWANCE IN THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL FOR SPLICING OR REPLACING WIRE. REPLACED HOUSING WITH NEW.
THE RETARD BREAKER POINTS WIRE THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE DISTRIBUTOR HOUSING WAS FOUND TO HAVE THE TERMINAL END THAT ATTACHES TO THE POINTS BROKEN. THE WIRE WAS TOO SHORT TO ALLOW FOR CRIMPING A NEW TERMINAL ON. THE WIRE IS ATTACHED TO THE HOUSING AND COVERED WITH AN EPOXY LIKE MATERIAL, AND THERE IS NO PROVISION IN THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL FOR SPLICING OR REPLACING THIS WIRE. THE HOUSING WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW UNIT.

THE ACFT WAS SQUAWKED FOR A BANG NOISE DURING FLIGHT. THE ENGINE WAS BORESCOPE INSPECTED AND FOUND TO HAVE A DAMAGED HPC ROTOR. DISASSEMBLY OF THE ENGINE REVEALED A MISSING THIRRD STAGE IP BLADE. HPC ROTOR WAS SECONDARY DAMAGE.
AFTER A FIELD EVENT, THE REQUIRED VIBRATION TESTING INDICATED UNACCEPTABLE 1ELP LEVELS AROUND .8 IPS. FIELD TROUBLE SHOOTING DISCOVERED A MISSING 3RD STAGE IP ROTOR BLADE. DISASSEMBLY OF THE ENGINE HAS CONFIRMED ONE MISSING 3RD STAGE IP BLADE. THE IP ROTOR HAS BEEN HELD FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION IF NECESSARY.

What buyers get caught by
The expensive surprises on any used airplane are missing logbooks, corrosion under paint, outstanding ADs, an engine near overhaul, and the same squawk written up again and again. The card lists where the Vision Jet gets written up; the AD timetable below lists what the FAA requires.
Ask for the logbook entries that match each item. A repeated entry is a pattern, not a coincidence.
